Aronov Donates PhotoMontgomery, Alabama - Aronov Homes and WSFA’s “Today In Alabama Builds A Home” initiative netted $70,000 for two local charities.

The 2005 “Today In Alabama Builds A Home” initiative was capped off on Friday, September 16, with Aronov Homes President James Hamner presenting checks for $35,000 each to Child Protect and Hospice of Montgomery during a live broadcast of “WSFA 12 Today In Alabama.”

“We are extremely proud to be able to present this money to two very deserving organizations,” Hamner said.

Jannah Bailey, executive director of Child Protect, said she was grateful for the donation. “There are a lot of deserving organizations in this community,” Bailey said. “We are overwhelmed that they chose us.” Bailey said Child Protect will use the money to continue their work aiding law enforcement agencies in the investigation of child abuse cases.

“We want to express our sincere appreciation for this wonderful gift,” said Hospice of Montgomery Executive Director Jenille Ball. Ball said that the proceeds would go towards the construction of a hospice home in the Montgomery area.

“When two deserving charities can get a donation of that size, everybody wins,” said WSFA News Director Denise Vickers. “The viewers got to participate, someone bought a lovely home, and these two charities got money they can really use.”

“It’s been a wonderful project,” Hamner said. “We are proud to have been a part of this.”

The interactive initiative allowed viewers to vote on a variety of home selections via the Internet. Over a six-month period, participants voted on everything from floor plans and landscaping to kitchen appliances, interior colors and flooring, and master bath countertops and plumbing fixtures. Net profits from the sale of the finished home, which is located in the Deer Creek neighborhood off of Vaughn Road in Montgomery, made up the donations to Hospice of Montgomery and Child Protect.

Aronov Homes wishes to thank the following sponsors who made the promotion possible through their generous gifts: Alabama Power, Alagasco, Carol’s Carpet, Cohen’s Electronics & Appliances, Jenkins Brick Company and Residential Mortgage.
