Pennies from Piggy Bank
Child Donates Pennies From Piggy Bank To Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Family
Montgomery, Alabama – June 16, 2009 -- The moment Jake Aronov, CEO of Aronov Homes, received a letter and check for $12.83 from the parents of three-year-old Danyelle English of Deatsville, he understood the real meaning of community support. The check for $12.83 was the total of the pennies from Danyelle's piggy bank that she wanted to donate to the Jordan family, winner of Montgomery's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition home. The letter to Mr. Aronov explained this and that Danyelle wanted to come to the build site to help work on the home with her grandfather. "This was one beautiful expression of support from thousands that ran very, very deep throughout our community," stated Aronov.
In addition to little Danyelle's contribution, other donations of cash, gift cards and checks were collected from individuals, spectators on the build site, and businesses who wanted to help the Jordan family. With the total collected, Aronov Homes recently presented a check to the Jordan family totaling $4,783.34.
Montgomery's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build brought together thousands of volunteers during February with Aronov Homes to build a home for Monica and Brady Jordan and their family, who were chosen by ABC because of devastating personal losses and their selfless contributions to helping others.
